It doesn’t happen often..

but when it does, it reminds me why I do this work.  Last week I received notice from CPS that they were nonsuiting (dismissing) their case against mother, my client. Mother participated in services through CPS beginning in June, 2017 in an effort to recover from drug use and domestic violence.  It was going well until she relapsed in October and CPS decided to take legal action to gain custody of her children.  The first hearing was scheduled in February, 2018. Instead of moving forward with custody, CPS agreed to give mom one more chance to stay clean, and she did!  Calling to congratulate a parent in beating the odds…priceless!
