Harris county’s Family Intervention – Infant and Toddler Court is an alternative legal process for parents caught in the CPS system because of substance abuse. Instead of the periodic confrontational hearings held in a District Court, a collaborative team of social workers, therapists, and lawyers work with parents to achieve sobriety and the return of children home. I was recently appointed on CPS case and discussed the possibility of participating in “Drug Court” with my client. My client decided to give it a try in the anticipation of finding a path toward full recovery from addiction. For me, this is perfect way to start 2018!
